This Privacy Policy describes how Sdrabet ሰድራቤት ("we", "us", or "our"),
developed by Mussie Gebre, collects, uses, and protects information when
you use our Android application ("the App").
By using Sdrabet, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Who We Are
Sdrabet is a parental control application designed for Amharic and Tigrigna-speaking families.
It allows parents to monitor and manage their children's device usage, including app blocking,
screen time limits, and location tracking.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
a) Account Information
- Parent's full name
- Parent's email address
- Encrypted password (we never store plain-text passwords)
- Preferred language (English, Amharic, or Tigrigna)
b) Child Profile Information
- Child's first name
- Child's age
- Device type (Android, Windows, or both)
- Screen time limits set by parent
- List of blocked applications set by parent
c) Device Usage Data (Child's Device)
- Foreground application usage statistics (app name and minutes used)
- Total daily screen time
- This data is collected only when the parent has granted usage access permission
d) Location Data (Child's Device)
- GPS latitude and longitude of the child's device
- Location is collected only when the parent explicitly requests it
- Location is not collected continuously in the background without parent action
- Requires explicit location permission granted on the child's device
e) Technical Data
- Authentication tokens (stored securely on device)
- Device pairing codes (temporary, expire after use)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage parent accounts
- Enable parents to add, manage, and monitor child profiles
- Enforce app blocking and screen time limits on paired child devices
- Display location of child devices to parents upon request
- Send password reset codes via email
- Manage subscription and trial access
- Improve the App's performance and features
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Children's Privacy
Sdrabet is designed to be used by parents to manage their children's devices.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 for account creation.
All child profile data (name, age, usage) is entered and controlled exclusively by the parent.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent,

and we will delete it promptly.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored securely on MongoDB Atlas (cloud database) with encrypted connections.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
- Authentication tokens are stored securely on the device using Android's encrypted shared preferences.
- Our backend server uses HTTPS for all communications.
- We implement token expiry and refresh mechanisms to protect accounts.
While we take all reasonable precautions to protect your data, no method of transmission
over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Permissions We Request
The App requests the following permissions on the child's device:
- Accessibility Service – to detect and block restricted apps in real time
- Usage Access (Usage Stats) – to track daily app usage and screen time
- Fine Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) – to send the child's GPS location to the parent
- Internet (INTERNET) – to communicate with our backend server
- Package Usage Stats (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) – to monitor which apps are being used
All permissions are explained to the user before being requested and are used only for the stated purposes.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as the account is active.
- Screen time usage records are retained for up to 30 days for reporting purposes.
- Location data is not permanently stored — it is updated and overwritten each time a new location is sent.
- Password reset OTP codes expire after 15 minutes and are deleted after use.
- Pairing codes expire after use and are deleted from our servers.
- You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
8. Your Rights (UK GDPR)
As a user based in the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under UK GDPR:
- Right of Access – request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to Rectification – request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to Erasure – request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to Restriction – request that we limit how we use your data
- Right to Data Portability – request your data in a portable format
- Right to Object – object to our processing of your personal data

Sdrabet offers a 7-day free trial, followed by paid subscription plans ($8.99/year or $2.99/month).
All payments are processed securely through Google Play Billing.
We do not collect or store any payment card information.
Subscription management and cancellation can be done through your Google Play account settings.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the
"Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
